George Junius Stinney Jr., was an African-American child wrongfully convicted of murder in 1944 in his hometown of Alcolu, South Carolina. He was one of the youngest people in the United States in the 20th-century to be sentenced to death and to be executed, being 14 years old at the time of his execution.
